A WEEK IN DUBAI! PART FIVE

Day 5: Abu Dhabi
Thursday 15th October 2015
Today we were up and out of the flat really early, we got a taxi to the Dubai bus station and got on a bus, the bus journey took 2 hours but at about 12:00pm we arrived in Abu Dhabi.

We got a taxi from Abu Dhabi bus station to the Emirates Palace Hotel (oh my gosh this hotel is AMAZING). The Emirates Palace hotel was opened in 2006 and the cost to build the hotel were about 11,020,000,000 AED (about 1,900,000,000 GBP).  Fun Fact: The Emirates Palace is the second most expensive hotel ever built, only surpassed by Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.  Kathryn and I walked around this hotel for about 2 hours staring at everything in disbelief, they even have a GOLD ATM!!!  After we were done taking photos we got another taxi to a public beach were we had lunch in a little cafe overlooking the beach and the sea.

After lunch we got a taxi to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, once at the mosque Kathryn and I had to go through security before going to get changed into our traditional Islamic dress.  After getting changed and making sure that we were totally covered we went into the mosque.  The mosque is huge and it was difficult to look at the architecture as the building is gleaming white in the Arabian sunshine.  Kathryn and I spent about an hour or 2 looking around the mosque taking lots of photographs.  The craftsmanship that has gone into building this mosque is of amazing quality, the mosque was opened in 2007 and cost over 2,000,000,000 AED (about 357,000,000 GBP) Our traditional Islamic dress made us so hot that towards the end of our visit we couldn't wait to leave (it became uncomfortably to hot to continue to wear the black Islamic dress).

After visiting the mosque we got a pink taxi to Yas Island where we visited Yas Island Marina whilst there we had a couple of drinks at a bar by the marina from our table we had a view over the marina to the Yas Island Marina Circuit.  We stayed at Yas Island until about 6pm before getting a taxi back to Abu Dhabi bus station where we caught a bus back to Dubai.

Check back tomorrow for part six,
