NEW FOUND LOVE...

After falling seriously unwell, being admitted to hospital and missing most of the Christmas & New Year period.  I decided to treat myself with some of the money that my Grandparents had given as gifts.  I had heard many great things about this brand and had walked passed one of its stores many times whilst out and about in York, but I had never plucked up enough courage to turn the shiny door knob and go inside.  However I felt different after my near death experience (a little dramatic, I know). I had decided to visit the store whilst shopping with my Mum and youngest sister Sammie.  We arrived outside the store one Saturday afternoon in the pouring rain (sounds a little like a scene from Harry Potter), I took a deep breath, turned the shiny door knob and pushed the door open.  On entering the store I was instantly greeted by a waft of many delightful scents and warmth.  Mum, Sammie and I were greeted by a lovely polite lady who asked if I was ok (I don't know if she thought Mum, Sammie and I were lost, or if I still looked half dead after my recent illness).  I had one particular idea in mind for what I wanted to buy with my Christmas money and nothing my Mum or sister could say would stop me from getting it...  A candle, but what scent?  The lady helped me decide on the perfect scent for my bedroom and I purchased my very first product from this iconic brand.  My purchase was placed carefully into a black box which had been filled with scented black tissue paper and the lid to the box was sealed with a delicately tied cream bow (the scene made me think of Rowan Atkinson's character in the film love actually preparing the purchase so carefully).

As I left the shop with my purchase safely in its large cream bag with it's perfect black bow holding the top shut tight I'd just brought myself a Jo Malone Candle in the scent English Pear & Freesia.

A delightful subtle scent, perfect for a bedroom!

I later received a handwritten thank you note through the post from the lovely team at Jo Malone York, along with a invitation for myself and a friend to receive a free hand and arm massage at local Jo Malone store.  I took them up on this offer in the spring and booked to visit with not one but two of my friends (the Jo Malone team in York were very happy to look after the three of us).  After being pampered at the store both myself and my friends made purchases from Jo Malone.  I brought myself a 100ml bottle of cologne in the scent Peony & Blush Suede (£85.00) and a 100ml bottle of the spring 2015 limited addition cologne in the scent Sakura Cherry Blossom (also £85.00).

Later on in spring I received a package through the post from Jo Malone with 'just giving' printed on the ribbon,  inside the box were TWO 30ml bottles of cologne.  One in the scent Peony & Blush Suede and the other in the scent English Pear & Freesia. (both of these bottle retail for £42.00 - that's a gift from Jo Malone worth £84.00!) - I am most grateful to the team at Jo Malone for the gift.

English Pear & Freesia is now my favourite go-to scent for special occasions.

A couple of weeks ago I received a sample from Jo Malone of there new Autumn scent Mimosa & Cardamom (I did smell this whilst shopping at Jo Malone in Manchester for my best friends belated Birthday/early Christmas present) and I wasn't overly keen on the scent in the store.  However yesterday I decided to try the sample that I'd received in the post a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving this scent!  For me this has to be one of the best scents for Autumn going into Winter (I know its only September, but time goes by so quickly) in my opinion this scent is warm, rich and spicy.  Jo Malone's website describes the scent like this: 'Mists of honeyed, golden mimosa float above the spiciness of freshly crushed cardamom. Creamy tonka and smooth sandalwood woven under powdery heliotrope and Damask rose picked at dawn. Warm, ethereal, mesmerising.'  If you are looking for the perfect Autumn-Winter scent I highly recommend visiting your local Jo Malone store to have a sniff/squirt.

This scent is definitely on my Birthday wish list this year.

I think Jo Malone has now become one of my all time favourite brands, I look forward to continuing to visit my local store in York and am excited for my future purchases from them (I know there will be a few).

Thank you for reading my post,

I'm going to go and burn my candle now. Ok. Bye!
