MY CHILLI CON CARNE ISN'T TRADITIONAL

INGREDIENTS:

1 WHITE ONION
1 CLOVE OF GARLIC
1 TBSP OIL
1/2 TSP MUSTARD SEEDS
500G MINCE BEEF
1 BEEF OXO CUBE
500G PASSATA OR CHOPPED TINNED TOMATOES
1 TSP TOMATO PURÉE
1/2 TSP CRUSHED CHILLIES
1 TSP CHILLI POWDER
1 TSP PAPRIKA
1 TSP NANDOS PERI-PERI SALT
1 TSP TABASCO
2 TSP NANDOS MEDIUM PERI-PERI SAUCE
2 TSP WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
2 TSP MALT VINEGAR
1/2 TSP MUSTARD POWDER
420G CAN OF RED KIDNEY BEANS (240G WHEN DRAINED)
1 RED PEPPER - CHOPPED
2 TBSP FROZEN PEAS
75ML RED WINE
1 TSP DRIED FENUGREEK LEAVES
1 TSP CORIANDER LEAVES
1/2 TSP GARLIC POWDER
1/2 TSP GARAM MASALA
2 SQUARES OF DARK CHOCOLATE (OPTIONAL)


COOKING METHOD:

HEAT OIL IN LARGE FRYING PAN
ADD THE MUSTARD SEEDS THEY SHOULD START SIZZLING BE CAREFUL NOT TO BURN THEM
SOFTEN THE ONION AND THE GARLIC IN THE FRYING PAN OVER A MEDIUM HEAT
ADD THE MINCE BEEF AND COOK THROUGH
ADD THE OXO CUBE AND MIX WELL
ADD THE PASSATA/CHOPPED TINNED TOMATOES AND TOMATO PURÉE - COOK FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES
ADD THE CRUSHED CHILLIES, CHILLI POWDER, PAPRIKA AND PERI-PERI SALT - MIX WELL
ADD THE TABASCO, PERI-PERI SAUCE, WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE, MALT VINEGAR AND MUSTARD POWDER
RISE THE KIDNEY BEANS AND ADD THEM TO THE PAN ALONG WITH THE CHOPPED RED PEPPER, FROZEN PEAS AND THE RED WINE - COOK FOR 5 MINUTES
ADD THE DRIED FENUGREEK LEAVES, CORIANDER LEAVES, GARLIC POWDER, GARAM MASALA AND DARK CHOCOLATE - MIX WELL, COVER AND COOK FOR 10-15 MINUTES OR UNTIL THE PEPPER IS COOKED (MAKE SURE YOU STIR OCCASIONALLY TO STOP IT CATCHING/STICKING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PAN)
SERVE WITH COOKED LONG GRAIN RICE, NACHOS AND A GOOD SPRINKLING OF GRATED CHEESE.
